Dr. Allan Coppedge returns to Indian Springs as our 2009 Bible Teacher. Dr. Coppedge is no stranger to Indian Springs, as he grew up on the campground and has frequently been an evangelist and Bible Teacher over the past twenty years.

He has been the Ralph Waldo Beeson Chair of Christian Theology at Asbury Theological Seminary where he has taught on the faculty since 1977.

He received a B.A. at Emory University, 1965; a B.D. from the University of Edinburgh, 1967; a Th.M. at Asbury Theological Seminary, 1969; and a Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge, 1977.

He has a vast range of experience in and out of the classroom. Prior to joining the Asbury Seminary faculty, Dr. Coppedge served as academic dean and professor of Old Testament at the Biblical Seminary of Colombia, South America, where he was under appointment as a missionary with OMS International.

Dr. Coppedge is an elder in the North Georgia Conference of The United Methodist Church and has preached extensively in Central and South America, as well as in Scotland and England. He was the founder and president of the Barnabas Foundation, an organization founded to promote discipleship ministries in seminaries, colleges, local churches and mission organizations.

He is also founding director of the Francis Asbury Society. Dr. Coppedge frequently preaches at retreats, camp meetings and special meetings. He has written several books, including The Biblical Principles of Discipleship (Bondservant).

Dr. Coppedge and his wife, Beth, live in Wilmore, KY. They have four grown children and numerous grandchildren. When not teaching or reading, Dr. Coppedge enjoys horse backing riding with this children and grandchildren. He is also an avid golfer.
