Dr. Bill Ury

Bill Ury was raised in Taiwan as the son of United Methodist missionaries. His B.A. degree from Asbury College in History was completed in 1978.

Beginning his Masters of Divinity degree in Israel, he studied for a year at the Institute of Holy Land Studies on Mt. Zion in Jerusalem. After completing his Masters of Divinity at Asbury Theological Seminary, he went on to receive a doctorate in systematic and historical theology in 1991 from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey.

After graduate work he began to teach Systematic and Historical theology at Wesley Biblical Seminary where he has had the privilege of serving for more than nineteen years. Since 1979 Bill has served as an evangelist, conference speaker and lecturer across the US. He has preached and taught overseas on numerous occasions.

Over ten years ago, Bill was given the privilege of being the seminary preacher on a nationwide program under the auspices of American Family Radio, entitled “The Hour of Holiness.” This ministry can be heard on over 200 radio stations every Sunday morning. Beyond writing various articles on biblical and theological themes, he has published two books, Trinitarian Personhood and In His Image with co-author, Dr. Allan Coppedge. He also has published extensively in the area of discipleship.

Dr. Ury and his wife, Diane, reside in Madison, MS with two daughters and a son. The Ury’s are members of Christ United Methodist Church, Jackson, MS, where Bill has taught Sunday School weekly, preached, and led seminars for nineteen years. The Ury’s enjoy every form of keeping fit, a variety of sports, reading and conversation.
