Dr. Bill Ury
Evangelist
Dr. Bill Ury is a current Professor of Systematic and Historical Theology at Wesley Biblical Seminary. His education is diverse with a B.A. in History from Asbury College, M. Div courses from the Institute of Holy Land Studies at Jerusalem University College and an additional M. Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary. Further studies led to the completion of his Ph. D. at Drew University in Systematic/Historical and Philosophical Theology.
Beyond writing numerous articles on a variety of theological and biblical topics, he has published two books, Trinitarian Personhood and In His Image (co-authored with Dr. Allan Coppedge).
Dr. Ury's theological interests were expanded by his missionary background, growing up in Taiwan. He enjoys learning about the intricacies cultural concepts. His training lends itself to understand the theological bases for various societies, both past and present. He loves history and Biblical languages. His hobbies include conversing, walking and soccer.
Dr. Ury has preached in many states for various occasions. He is a member of several scholarly organizations. At present Dr. Ury complements his teaching ministry through leading several accountability groups within the community. He was privileged to be the seminary preacher on a nationwide program under the auspices of American Family Radio.
His calling and personal desire is to incorporate sound, rigorous Christian theological thinking with pastoral care and personal compassion. He has had a lifetime of commitment to many ministries within Methodism aligned with the historic bases and contemporary expressions of Christianity and the Wesleyan tradition.
Dr. Ury and his wife, Diane, live in Madison, MS and have three adult children. The Urys are members of Christ United Methodist Church, Jackson, MS, where he has taught Sunday School weekly, preached, and led seminars since 1990.
