Missionary Day 2011: Thursday, July 21, 2011 - Hosted by OMS International with special observances and missionary speakers at all services throughout the camp.
Our 2011 Speakers are:
Thane & Laura Ury
Serving OMS International in Hong Kong
Biographical Information: Thane and Laura Ury joined OMS International in 2004, appointed as missionaries to serve in Hong Kong. Thane grew up as a “missionary kid” in Taiwan, and in the mid-80’s, he and Laura pastured at the Chinese United Methodist Church in Chinatown, New York.
Their unique ministry in Hong Kong brought together 15 years experience living in Asia, their knowledge of Mandarin and service in Chinatown. The Ury’s believe that there is a wonderful correlation of God opening up doors which match one’s preparedness.
Thane attended Asbury College, Asbury Theological Seminary and Andrew University. He taught at Bethel College for 15 years, as well as taught in adjunct positions in Asia, Romania, Nigeria and Trinidad. He is a frequent speaker at men’s church and youth retreats.
Laura grew up as the child of Salvation Army officers and attended Asbury College. She taught art for three years at Bethel College and has illustrated three published books. She has given private art lessons for many years. Over the years, she has been heavily involved in women’s and children’s ministries.
Dr. Ury teaches theology and trains Chinese pastors at OMS’s United Wesleyan Graduate Institute in Hong Kong. Their ministry is vital in preparing disciple makers for the Hong Kong of tomorrow.
The Urys have four children, ranging from middle school to college age.
David & Carol Cosby
Serving OMS International in Mexico
Biographical Information: The Cosby's have been in missionary service full time since 1975, serving Colombia, Hungary, Mexico and Venezuela. They recently completed their four-year ministry assignment in Venezuela. Though no longer based in Venezuela, David will continue to teach in the seminary there twice a year.
The Cosby's are currently raising funds to begin their ministry assignment as field leaders of the OMS team in Mexico. They will oversee ministries that include the Biblical Seminary of Mexico, training lay leaders and future pastors. They are involved in a drop-in center for street children which provides food, baths, instruction and crafts.
Other OMS ministry opportunities will involve overseeing 12 established churches as well as 50+ house churches. David will teach at the Seminary and mentor pastors; Carol will be the Seminary treasurer and disciple women. Indian Springs welcomes the Cosby's for their first engagement with our missionary day activities.

One
of the hallmarks of Indian Springs Holiness Camp Meeting has been its involvement
with missionaries committed to the understanding and application of Scriptural Holiness. It has been our tradition to support and feature missionaries serving with World Gospel Mission one year and OMS International the next year.
Missionary Day has always had a special focus within the life of the camp. Throughout the day, all services in the Main Tabernacle have brief interviews with various members of our missionary families. In addition, one of the adults visits the Children’s, the ‘Tweens’ and Youth programs in order to share the missionary experience with all ages on the camp ground.
Missionary Day ends in a deeply meaningful missionary message followed by a special offering. In 2006, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit was so evident after the message, that an offering of $350,000 resulted!
Please keep our missionary families in your prayers for their ministries, their financial support and their safety.
